The Pine’s Junior program is one of the club's shining stars, and has secured a spot as summer priority for parents of the juniors in the area. Hosting as many as 120 juniors over its three sessions, the club’s Golf Professional, Russell Reid, runs a full summer program that covers all the fundamentals, and leaves the kids enthusiastically begging their parents for more golf. The program attracts a strong mix of both boys and girls, ages 5 through 15, at varying levels of proficiency. For the accommodation of our young golfers, the Pines added sets of junior tees for players under 13, creating physical parity for family play. With a program centered around Russell’s philosophy of “All the F’s to the A game”, your child will learn that Fundamentals start with FUN, the key to loving the game of golf. Russell was awarded best WV teacher in 2014, and has coached numerous Top-Flite Tour Event winners, Players of the Year, and a college student competing in the PGA’s 2012 Greenbrier Classic. If you're looking for your child to get a solid start in golfing, with serious improvement opportunities disguised as great fun, the Pines Junior program is the place to find it.
Our Thursday night Men’s Group has become a staple for the Pines, and during the golf season is one of our most active games. With anywhere from 20 to 40 players every Thursday evening, this is a great way for new members to meet other players in the club. Sign up by calling the Pro Shop before the 5:00 pm deadline, when the staff puts together the pairings and decides what type of game will be played. This can range from a Best Ball gross and net to a Scramble. You will find that this 9-hole group is not only fun, but competitive! Regardless of whether you are a single digit handicap, or a newer player shooting around the century mark, come share lots of laughs and good times every Thursday night.
The PCC Senior Men’s Golf Association is open to all PCC male members who are 50 or older. We play each Monday morning from mid-April through mid-October, and a variety of team competitions are held, using full handicaps. Annual dues are $10, and weekly fees are $5. Our funds are used for weekly team and individual awards, a donation for the Pines Tree Fund, and an end-of-season Banquet which includes season award winners in 10 categories. To join the association, email Russ Koon, or just show up some Monday at our 8:30 am meeting time!
The Pines Country Club Women’s Golf Association (PCCWGA) is an organization dedicated to promoting interest and participation of women in the game of golf, as well as friendship among our golfers. Our regular day of play is Tuesdays with both 18-hole and 9-hole events, followed by lunch. We also sponsor an evening group for working women who play 9-hole events on Wednesdays. Any PCC female golfer over the age of 18 is eligible to join the organization upon payment of annual dues set by the WGA board. Golfing members must establish a USGA handicap to be eligible to win prizes for game-of-the-day events and to receive awards given at the end-of-season banquet. Contact for the group is Margaret Roberts, available by phone at 304-296-5824 or via email at: MargaretPCCWGA@aol.com.
